Zebra Box

I made this box using only two 12x12 sheets of paper. You want to be sure to use the thick paper to help you box be sturdy. I used paper from Glitz called Sparrow Zebra and Sparrow Stain Paper which is a thick double sided paper.

This box will hold a post it note block perfectly. Great gift idea!

Hello! Sketch Challenge

Here is a sketch challenge that I did for Simply Scrapping. I really like how this one turned out. I used Copics and Bic markers to color the image. The paper is from The Paper Studio and it's called Pink Armadillo paper pack. I love this paper pack so much I had to decorate the inside of the card too.

Simply Scrapping Design Team

Not sure why it's taking me so long to post this because I'm super duper excited about it but I made the Design Team for Simply Scrapping. This is a fairly new online store but the owner, Judy, has been selling scrapbooking items on Ebay for over 7 years . Along with the store she also started an online community also called Simply Scrapping. You should come on over to the community and join in. It's still small so you won't be lost in a huge group. There are some talented ladies on there and we love to share our work and learn new things. If you join, be sure to tell them I sent you! Hope to see you there!

Spring Fever

Pink Persimmon is having a "Spring Fever" challenge on their blog. This card is what I was feeling yesterday because it got so warm, temp was up to 80 degrees. I was riding around with the windows down and the warm air blowing in my hair. Ok, so my hair isn't black or long nor do I have a convertible but you get the drift. : ) I used Copics to color the image. Now I'm ready for summer!!

Scrappy Boy!

I have been wanting to make a mini album with toilet paper rolls. So I have been collecting a few empty tp rolls. Austin kept seeing them laying around and asking what I was keeping them for. He wanted one to play with and this is what he made. He had the idea to put the yellow on the bottom so the tag wouldn't fall out and also to punch a hole and put ribbon (he said string but of course I had ribbon) in the hole. I helped him cut the tag out but that is about it. He wrote "Army Army Army Austin!" on the tag. I asked him why he put Army on the tag and he said because he is Army Austin. I'm so proud of my scrappy boy!

Shabby Chic

I've done a little experimenting with the "shabby chic" look or at least trying it. I really like the look but it's just not me. Maybe it just doesn't come easy to me.
I bought these paper heart doilies at the dollar spot at Target. I thought I could use them to make Valentine's for my kids class. Yeah, that didn't happen. Still wanted to try and use them so this was just playing around with them. Oh and another reason I wanted to try the shabby thing was the book pages. My daughter tore a bunch of pages out of an old book I had as decoration. It was probably worth something, first edition but I don't even want to know!
This is a bookmark I made for a vintage bookmark swap. Not 100% sure I like it or not. You know how some things you just love how they turned out and some not so sure of. Well that is how it is with this style for me. But I was trying to stretch my creativy and try something new.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I want to wish you all a very Happy Valentine's day. This is a card I did for a swap over at CafeMom. The stamp is a very cute set from SU. I don't own the stamp set but a friend of mine does so I made a bunch of images the last time we were together. This is the first time I got to use them. I used Copics to color the image and did some highlighting with a white gel pen.

I am a guest card designer this month over at Let's Scrap. Here is the inside of a card I made. Go check out the front of it on their blog. I used the Joy Fold and fell in love with this card style. It's very easy to make and I think it makes a great card.

Aaack - It's February and where have I been???

January was a hard month for our family. We had the stomach bug works it's way through the entire family. Austin and I both had strep throat. Kids were out of school for 4 days due to the ice storm. Finally feel like I can breathe again.

Here are a couple of cards I made from a sketch challenge. First the sketch, I copied this off the post but don't know where they got the sketch from. I had one problem with it though. I couldn't do the 2 little circles at the top. In design you are suppose to use odd numbers and so for me I couldn't do two. I thought it just didn't look as good as one or if I had put 3 smaller flowers. That's probably just me being picky but oh well. I used paper from the Sassafras line. The images are from Stamping Bella.

Fun in the Sun

At the beginning of summer last year I purchased this blow up water slide for the kids. I got it off WalMart.com and it was only around $200 with free shipping to the local store and I just picked it up. I got it very early in the season and it's a good thing because they sold out when I went and checked again only a week or so after I ordered mine. This was a great investment and the kids used it a lot. This was the first day we put it up so
I had to take pictures of them playing. The paper I used is called Kaleidoscope and it's an old line of paper I had but I had the matching embellishments too so it made for a very easy LO. I only had to find a few more letters to spell out the title and that was it. This is kind of plain for me because I didn't use any ribbon, flowers, brads or bling. This summer I will be taking lots of pictures of them playing in our new pool. I'm so excited I can't wait for the warm weather! Have a great weekend everyone.

Chalk Full of Fun

These are not colors I would have normally put together but I like how it turned out. This was a challenge in one of my CafeMom groups to use these colors and listed some of the products that had to be used. That's when I like a challenge when well, it actually is a challenge for me and this was.
The kids were playing in the water outside then started playing with the chalk. They found out that if you add the water to the chalk on the sidewalk it spreads real easy. Then one of them and I'm guessing it was Kaitlyn started painting themselves. They all pitched in and helped cover each other. It did wash off but Kaitlyn had a slight pink color to her cheeks for a day or so but they had fun and I got some great pictures to scrap from it.

Brrrrrrr......Changito

Isn't Changito so cute all bundled up?!! I made these for a swap over on CafeMom. I found this stamp at Hobby Lobby and bought it with my 40% off coupon. I'm really starting to fall for this little guy. I colored the hat, scarf, gloves and boots with Copics. The silver on his hat, boots and the snow flakes is Stickles.

Thank you - Teachabella

I did this card in a sketch challenge in a group on CafeMom group. We were to follow the sketch to a T. That was a little harder to do than I thought it would be. I really like the look of buttons but don't seem to use them very often. I do like how it turned out though. The stamp is Teachabella from Stamping Bella. The paper is from My Minds Eye but I don't remember the name of the line. I used colored pencils to color the image. I will be giving this to one of the kids teachers when we have teacher appreciation day at school this spring.

Altered Weekly Planner

I altered these weekly planners for the Kaitlyn and Austin's teacher for Christmas. The stamp is Teachabella from Stamping Bella. I colored the image with Copics. I'm getting ready to order some more Copics because I've heard they are raising their prices next month as much at $.50 to $1.00 each! Not sure if this is accurate or not but it saddens me because I have just started my Copic collection and have soooooo many more colors to go.

Christmas Tree Album

I made this Christmas tree shaped album for a class that I taught. I really like how it turned out and everyone seemed to enjoy it even though it took longer than expected to finish.

I ended up giving this album to my sister for Christmas.

Page Maps Challenge

Here is a card I did for the Page Maps Card Challenge.
As I soon as I saw the sketch and it had a butterfly on it I immediately thought of the Ambrosia line from Basic Grey. I have the paper with butterflies but decided not to use that one. I embossed the butterfly, sentiment and bottom in black embossing powder. This was the first time I used all three of these stamped. The Thank You stamp is from CTMH. The butterfly is from Autumn Leaves and so is the bottom stamp. It's called "On The Edge". I colored the butterfly with Copics. I had fun blending the colors in the wings. This is also the first time I have used embroidered lace and I really like how it looks.

Altered Canisters

I have several of these American Crafts canisters from their flowers. Which were all bought at Big Lots for a really good deal. : ) I kept all the empty ones knowing I wanted to do something with them and here is what I did. It was VERY easy and fast. I had a circle punch that fit the top of the lid perfectly. Then I used my scallop punch (SU) on top of that with some flowers. Pop dots make it stand up a bit more. Added the paper around the outside. Added a ribbon and then put a little stone hanging from the knot. I got the stones and the heart from my little basket of old and broken jewerly. I knew they would come in handy some time. I gave the 3 matching ones to my neices (ages 18 - 25) and the other one to their mom (my sister). I did my sisters to match the rolodex that I gave her earlier.

My New Year's Resolution - hehe

When I saw this stamp at Hobby Lobby, on sale of course, I just had to get it. It's pretty close to the truth sad to say.

What's different about this stamped image is that I paper pieced it. This is the first time I have ever done one. I probably should have picked an image that didn't have such intricate detail but I didn't do such a bad job if I don't say so myself. I paper pieced, the flower, chair, pillow, cat, her hair, shoes and dress. I even included a BIG close up so you can see all my mistakes but hopefully I covered them well.

I made this a challenge on a CafeMom scrap group that I am part of the admin. Here are some links that show how this technique is done.

Hot Wheels

This is one of the everyday pages that I really don't scrap often enough. Austin is really into Hot Wheels Trick Tracks right now. This time I actually thought about getting the camera and taking pictures while he played. Kaitlyn was in there and of course had to get in on the action too. I love the saying on the sticker, it goes perfectly with this. "Serious: def. Deeply interested or involved."

Black Friday Challenge from Stamp Something

I orginally heard about this challenge from Stamp Something over at Paper Craft Planet. This was a very easy card to put together but I think with the use of Stickles it makes it better. But of course Stickles ALWAYS makes things better! : )
